Assistant Manager - The Footman - Running Footman (W1J 5DF)
Salary: 28,000.00 - 30,000.00 (with a bonus on top)
Location: Running Footman (W1J 5DF)
Recruiter: Metropolitan Pub Company
Job id: req2986
One of the oldest pubs in London, the Footman has been in place since 1749. Originally called The Running Horse it was frequented by the footmen who were in service to the households of Mayfair. They would run ahead of their master’s coaches, paying any tolls in advance and clearing a safe passage ahead. As the fashion for footmen dwindled, one bought the pub and named it after himself. Often the source of the best gossip, the pub soon became well known. Formally known as The Only Running Footman we are a three floored pub and dining room still catering for the people of Mayfair and beyond. Traditionally bedecked but with modern stylings, we offer food from our exciting menu from midday Monday to Saturday and also open early for coffee, drinks and business in relaxing surroundings.
You’ll work with the general manager to run the pub, hire, train and develop the team, plan events and take charge of everything when the general manager’s away. You’ve already worked as an assistant manager in a busy pub for at least a year, and we’re keen to know what you’ve learnt.
But it’s more than that.
We’re much more interested in who you are and what you’re really like. What are you like to work with? How do you rally a team? Are you calm when things don’t go to plan? What makes you laugh? We want to get to know you and your way of doing things. And find out how you can bring them to Running Footman (W1J 5DF).
What’s in it for you?
- A salary up there with the best of the rest (with bonus on top).
- The chance to move on to managing your own pub.
- Discount at the pub and our sister pubs.
- The chance to run and develop a business.
- Parties and events with other management teams.
- Top-class management leadership programme.
Who are we, anyway?
We’re Metropolitan Pub Company (or Metro Pub Co for short). We’re part of Greene King, but they leave us to it. We’re big believers in local pubs being just that, with their own character and charm. We’ve got over 60 pubs in and around London: neighbourhood locals, city pubs and foodie ones. They’re all different – run by their managers, not a boardroom – and we like it that way.
